Delaplace approaches photography with a cinematic sensibility that sets his work apart. Rather than relying on post-production, he constructs his sets entirely by hand and creates practical special effects in camera, treating each shoot as a film production in miniature. This discipline-driven philosophy means that what the lens captures is, by design, already the finished image. His Nikon journey began in 2023 when he made the move to the Nikon Z8, a camera whose speed, resolution, and reliability aligned naturally with the demands of his controlled, high-craft approach. He shoots primarily on prime lenses, with the Nikkor Z 85mm f/1.2 S sitting at the heart of his kit, a lens he considers legendary for its rendering of light and subject depth. He complements this with a versatile range of Nikkor Z lenses including the 14-24mm, 24-70mm, and 70-200mm, giving him the flexibility to move between intimate portraiture and wider environmental compositions without compromising image quality.
