Features to support better workflow and greater creativity
Nikon has announced the development of firmware version 2.00 for the ZR, bringing new features to the compact, full-frame cinema camera by the end of 2026.
Features of the new firmware will include:
- Support for Log3G10 and REDWideGamutRGB in H.265 for a greater ability to stand up to colour grading while keeping file sizes minimal.
- A new High ISO NR option with H.265 Log recording that enables imaging tailored to filming intent and the tone of the work.
- Support for the focus peaking display with recording at an R3D NE file setting for more precise focus confirmation.
Additionally, RED is updating its remote-control applications, RED CONTROL and RED CONTROL PRO which will enable remote control capabilities for the ZR.
Nikon is also developing frequently requested features for further firmware updates in 2027. These include open gate recording and a desqueeze display for use with anamorphic lenses.
